Mantel clocks began to appear in France during the 1700s. They were some of the first portable clocks using a spring mechanism, and often chimed on the hour. Since most homes were heated by multiple fireplaces located in separate rooms, it became common to place a clock on the mantel piece in several rooms.

Mantel clocks and Table clocks are often made of wood, bronze or porcelain, with a clock face large enough to be read from across the room. Many of the older clocks had rather ornate bodies while others were fairly simple. Perhaps the most recognizable form of the simple ones is the tambour clock.

We are growing business which will continue to provide an ever-expanding selection of Mantel Clocks and Table Clocks, and Wall Clocks.
